We will be recruiting Healthcare Support Workers to work in a variety of wards and services, both at Homerton University Hospital and at our Community Sites. You will work closely with Registered Nurses and the multi-disciplinary team, delivering high quality care to patients by helping and assisting with routine activities associated with the ward. Working hours: Full time, 37.5 per week. Due to high number of applications, the vacancy may close earlier than the stipulated end date ***.
Key Responsibilities
You will assist with patient hygiene needs, toileting, nutritional intake, assisting patients with mobility and physical comfort, and monitoring and recording vital signs. You will have good communication and interpersonal skills, using your own initiative as well as working as part of a team. In conjunction with registered staff, you'll contribute to the assessment of patients' activities of daily living and the care required.
Person Specification
* Education/Qualifications:
o Functional Skills or GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
o Care Certificate
o Relevant competency-based workbooks or equivalent relevant experience to vocational qualification level 3 and Essential Skills for Clinical Support Workers
* Skills / Abilities:
o Basic numeracy and literacy skills
o Venepuncture/phlebotomy skills
o Able to concentrate for clinical and personal care procedures of predictable and unpredictable nature including emergency situations
* Experience:
o Experience of working in a busy healthcare environment
o Experience of working effectively in a busy and high pressured environment
