Job Advert: Environmental Advisor / Senior Environmental Advisor Location: Roaming Role – South of England (M1 Corridor) Salary: £34,000 – £40,000 Package We are working on behalf of a leading main contractor to recruit a Senior Environmental Advisor for a confidential opportunity. This is a fantastic role for someone passionate about driving sustainability and environmental best practice within construction projects across the South of England. This is a roaming position covering sites primarily along the M1 corridor, with a mix of on-site and remote working. The successful candidate will play a key role in guiding environmental performance across major developments from preconstruction through to delivery. Key Responsibilities: Provide environmental and sustainability guidance during the preconstruction phase. Conduct site-specific environmental risk assessments and pre-start checks. Prepare Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs) and other required documentation such as Water and Nuisance Management Plans. Secure project-specific environmental regulatory permissions. Review environmentally high-risk method statements to ensure risk mitigation. Offer specialist support during the construction phase, monitoring site environmental performance. Investigate environmental incidents and liaise with regulators where necessary. Support maintenance and compliance with ISO 14001 and internal environmental management systems. Deliver environmental training sessions and lead CPD activities (e.g., webinars, forums, site engagement). Monitor and report on performance in areas such as water, dust, noise, and vibration. Promote environmental best practices throughout operational teams and the wider supply chain. Be a visible presence across project sites, acting as a key point of contact for environmental support. What We’re Looking For: Experience within the construction industry or a related field. Strong understanding of environmental management systems and regulatory requirements. Proven ability to assess environmental risks and implement effective mitigation strategies. Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders and supply chain partners. A proactive approach to site support and environmental monitoring. Degree qualified in Environmental Science or a related discipline (ideal but not essential).
