We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Financial Controller for an 8-month fixed-term contract to oversee core financial operations starting August 2025. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional financial acumen, excel in preparing management accounts, and ensure rigorous control over all financial aspects of the business. This role is crucial for maintaining our high standards of financial integrity, compliance and supporting our strategic growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee accurate and timely management accounts preparation.
* Provide detailed analysis and insights for strategic decision-making.
* Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports for the board and investors.
* Lead the preparation of annual financial statements and ensure their accuracy.
* Coordinate and manage the annual audit process with external auditors.
* Provide technical guidance to the finance team and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
* Take full ownership of the balance sheet, ensuring meticulous account management and robust controls.
* Utilise advanced Excel skills to develop financial models and support business planning.
* Ensure payroll processing deadlines are met and completing detailed review.
Requirements:
* Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is essential.
* Proven experience (3 years+ PQE) as a Financial Controller or similar role in a dynamic business environment.
* Fourth - Rota & payroll knowledge
* Exceptional technical accounting skills and knowledge of relevant accounting standards.
* Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel modelling.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
* Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
* Able to travel to Hove at least once a week and Branksome once a month.
