Role Overview
Cornwall Council is seeking Social Workers for multidisciplinary teams across Cornwall in both full‑time and part‑time roles.
You will work in a public/customer‑facing role with statutory English language requirements and must pass an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.
Working Pattern
Full‑time – 37 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
* Provide person‑centred, strength‑based practice with a focus on independence and reablement.
* Apply evidence‑based legislation, theory and policy to guide practice.
* Analyze and translate complex assessments of need, risk and strengths.
* Recognize and respond to behaviours indicating resistance to change, ambivalence or selective cooperation, and deliver difficult messages.
* Build strong professional relationships with other partners within a multi‑disciplinary setting.
* Communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
Qualifications
* Expert knowledge and experience of relevant legislation, social‑work theory, policy and principles.
* Previous experience in a social‑care environment with a proven record of excellent strengths‑based practice.
* Ability to undertake, analyse and translate complex assessments of need, risks and strengths.
* Proficiency in recognising and responding to behaviour that may indicate resistance to change, ambivalence or selective cooperation and delivering difficult messages.
* Ability to form strong professional relationships with other partners within a multi‑disciplinary setting.
* High level of written and verbal communication skills.
* Qualified with a Social Work Degree, Social Work Qualification (Dip. SW) or equivalent and registered with Social Work England.
