We’re working with welcoming, well-supported schools that love to help Early Career Teachers gain real experience in SEND, even if you’ve never worked in this setting before.
You won’t be thrown in at the deep end. You’ll be supported, guided, and given the time to learn what works, from experienced staff who genuinely want to see you succeed.
It’s a chance to build your confidence, try new approaches, and discover just how rewarding SEND teaching can be.
With smaller groups and a more personalised approach, you’ll have the space to focus on relationships, routines, and those small wins that make a big difference.
Why SEND as an ECT?
Smaller groups.
More support.
Time to build confidence properly.
You’ll get the space to focus on what really matters, building relationships, understanding pupils, and growing into the teacher you want to be.
What you’ll get:
A supportive SLT who genuinely guide, not judge
Experienced support staff in every classroom
Structured routines and clear behaviour systems
Ongoing mentoring to help you build confidence step by step
Your role will include:
Teaching and supporting pupils with additional needs (e.g. autism, SEMH)
Creating a calm, engaging learning environment
Working closely with TAs, SENCOs, and therapists
Celebrating the small wins, because they matter here
We’re looking for:
An ECT with QTS or pending qualification
A positive, patient approach
Someone open to learning and trying new strategies
A genuine interest in SEND
Why Protocol Education?
Free CPD Academy access
Ongoing support from a consultant who actually gets it
