Role Overview
In line with the government’s priority to increase access and availability of mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people, the Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) role offers an exciting opportunity to deliver evidence-based early interventions across educational and healthcare settings in England.
Successful candidates will be employed full-time within our mental health support team (MHST). The service covers the Pennine Care footprint, with teams in Bury, Stockport, Tameside, Oldham, and Rochdale. Access to a car is essential.
Responsibilities and Training
The team will deliver low-level mental health support in educational settings. The role involves travel to Edge Hill University for training. Details about the course can be found at: PGDip Education Mental Health Practitioner for Children and Young People.
Candidates must be able to start employment by Monday 5th January 2026 to commence the course. The training includes 6 modules focusing on skills such as working with children, caseload management, collaboration, and mental health issue identification and management in educational settings.
Post-Training Expectations
Upon successful completion, trainees will be qualified EMHPs, capable of working autonomously within their scope of practice alongside education colleagues.
