Therapy Services - Seddon Suite Specialist Rehabilitation Unit, St Helens Hospital
Permanent - Full time 37.5 hrs (part time considered)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled, Clinical Lead Physiotherapist to join the Therapy Team on Seddon Suite Specialist Rehabilitation Unit at St Helens Hospital. Seddon Suite is part of the Cheshire and Merseyside Rehabilitation Network (CMRN) providing specialist assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for adults following traumatic injury or serious illness.

Main duties of the job
Seddon Suiteoffers a dedicated seven-day rehabilitation service for 20 beds, with facilities for a range of therapeutic treatments. Rehabilitation is active and is provided at a level of intensity and duration that can be tolerated by the patient to enable the achievement of optimum functional potential. Our team of professionals work closely with patients and families to devise interprofessional goals based on individual patient aims to achieve the best possible level of independence and quality of life. In addition to the inpatients service, the unit also offers out-patient therapy services which encompasses complex rehabilitation patients and includes management of spasticity patients. Our philosophy is to keep the patient at the heart of everything we do.
We are looking to recruit a well-motivated and dynamic Physiotherapist with sufficient number of years post graduate experience. The successful candidate should have a strong clinical background, and knowledge and skills acquired across a variety of settings. Experience in a neurological and trauma/orthopaedic setting is essential. Previous experience in other specialties is also desirable.

We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.
Specialist Regional Services
We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

Job responsibilities
The lead Physiotherapist role is both clinical and non-clinical and therefore they should have excellent organisational, planning and time management skills to be able to work seamlessly between clinical and non-clinical duties. A flexible approach to day-to-day tasks is essential to meet the demands of the service. They must be a team player and be able to work collaboratively with our specialist interdisciplinary team of medics, nurses, psychologists, speech and language therapists, dietitians, occupational therapists and rehabilitation co-ordinators in order to best meet the needs of the patient. Providing specialist clinical contribution to the patient journey with high level assessment and treatment planning for complex rehabilitation patients. An ability to think laterally to be creative and innovative with treatment planning is essential in this environment.
In addition to this the lead Physiotherapist is part of the clinical management group supporting the co-ordination of the ward and facilitating communication and developments between the variety professions on the unit.
The successful applicant must have strong leadership skills to be able to motivate the interdisciplinary team and provide supervision and development to the Specialist Physiotherapists.
You will have access to peer support and supervision from the highly skilled Clinical Lead therapy team on Seddon Suite and other peers across the network with opportunities to develop both clinically and non-clinically. The appropriate candidate will also be required to demonstrate a strong commitment to service development, audit, research and people management skills.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree in Physiotherapy
* HCPC registration
* Clinical Educators Certificate or equivalent/experience
* MSc in relevant health studies or equivalent qualification/experience
Experience
* Advanced clinical knowledge relevant to the care environment and evidence of evidence based practise in relevant health setting
* Awareness of own strengths and limitations
* Knowledge of relevant national policies and guidance and relevant assessment tools
* Experience of leadership of a team including change management
* Evidence of effective working within an MDT
* Experience of Service development
* Demonstrate experience of problem solving approaches
