Job Role and Responsibilities
To coordinate, administer, maintain, and develop the examinations and quality assurance practices for the education and training department at HMP Dovegate. This includes completing all paperwork required to meet internal and external audit requirements, following guidance issued by both the Awarding Body and the College regarding assessment practices and documentation, and ensuring full compliance with the establishment’s Quality Assurance systems to maintain consistency and continuous improvement. The role involves liaising with staff to support assessment, verification, and additional support systems, guiding and supporting assessors to ensure quality and consistency, and undertaking staff development as per contractual and departmental needs.
The position also requires invigilation of exams, which involves prisoner contact. As the needs of the College evolve, the job profile, duties, and location may be adjusted accordingly.
Key Accountabilities
* Submitting monthly reports to management, including exam pass/fail rates, attendance data, and examination results within specified timescales.
* Maintaining assessment and verification records for inspection purposes.
* Verifying assessment decisions and managing the quality of delivery to meet criteria and guided learning hours.
* Coordinating, monitoring, and invigilating examinations across the provision.
* Updating and maintaining internal and external exam databases.
* Ensuring compliance with security procedures related to examination papers and invigilation.
* Maintaining quality systems in line with Awarding Body requirements.
* Managing the ordering of exam papers, registration, data recording, and certification claims.
* Ensuring exam materials are well maintained and secure.
* Working professionally within the education team, demonstrating flexibility and a positive attitude to change.
* Maintaining confidentiality and security of staff and prisoner information.
* Adhering to health and safety legislation and policies.
* Supporting other areas of the prison as instructed.
Qualifications
* Training, Assessment and Quality Assurance Level 3
* Level 3 Award in Education and Training (PTLLS)
* Advanced ECDL/Computer Qualification in office applications
Minimum Requirements
* ECDL/Computer Qualifications at Level 2
* Grade C or above in Maths and English (Level 2 or equivalent)
Experience
* Proven experience in a role requiring strong interpersonal, communication, and written skills
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
* Problem-solving skills
* Teamwork and relationship-building skills
* Experience in a custodial environment is advantageous
