Mott MacDonald Bentley provides design and build services in the UK water market, delivering feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning services for water and wastewater treatment systems.
Responsibilities
* Prepare and review designs for schemes, ensuring they are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards. Work with Motor Control Centres, LV distribution systems, cabling, instrumentation, industrial networks, PLCs and SCADA. Handle both new technology and legacy installations.
* Produce and review technical specifications and schedules for procurement activities, including supplier tender bids and technical submissions.
* Apply and contribute to design standards, maintaining good knowledge of client and industry standards.
* Appropriately challenge client specifications and present and defend solutions to complex problems.
* Identify opportunities to improve delivery processes, including development and implementation of standard designs, sustainable solutions and digital tools.
* Act as a technical checker on project documents and undertake technical reviews for projects across teams.
* Manage the interfaces and integration of the design with other disciplines and produce documentation.
* Seek input from other engineers, specialists, clients and project team members to improve understanding and deliver fit‑for‑purpose solutions.
* Work closely with the commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions during design, construction and beyond.
* Supervise and mentor graduates and engineers, supporting their development of knowledge and skills.
* Engage positively with the client, managing relationships and adopting a one‑team approach to support them in achieving their aims.
* Undertake site reviews to ensure buildability of solutions and integration within existing systems.
Qualifications
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
* Chartered or incorporated member of a professional institution (e.g., ICE, IMechE) or equivalent experience.
* Experience with water, wastewater, non‑infrastructure or infrastructure projects.
* Experience delivering high‑quality outputs in accordance with design, quality and safety standards.
* Proficiency in delivering results within short timeframes, prioritising tasks and managing time efficiently.
* A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
