Role Overview
Waddington Custot is looking for a Marketing & Communications Coordinator to manage the delivery and execution of the gallery's communications and digital marketing activities. You will work closely with the Digital Content Creator and in coordination with the exhibitions, sales and media teams to ensure all written, printed and digital communications are accurate, timely and aligned with the gallery's programme and commercial priorities. The role also supports the planning and coordination of events, including exhibition openings, fairs, and special projects, while overseeing scheduling, rollout and external outreach.
Key Responsibilities
Writing & Editorial
Write, edit and proofread gallery communications, including press releases, captions, mailers and newsletters, and marketing-facing outreach and external communications.
Ensure consistency of tone, clarity of language and accuracy of content across all platforms and formats.
Digital Marketing & Online Platforms
Build, schedule and manage exhibition, quarterly and fair-related mailers, ensuring consistent messaging and timely delivery.
Coordinate online platform(Artsy, Artnet, Ocula) advertisements and update the gallery website with content including exhibitions, news, projects, fairs,videos, publications and stock listings.
Design & Print Materials
Create sales packs, invitations, mailers, artist dossiers, exhibition handouts and advertisements, ensuring visual and editorial consistency.
Content Coordination
Coordinate content creation and outreach schedules with the Digital Content Creator and gallery management.
Assist installation photography and ensure assets are delivered, archived and used appropriately.
Collaboratively create social media content to ensure alignment with the gallery's overall communications strategy.
Outreach & Events
Support outreach initiatives for exhibitions, art fairs and external projects, contributing to the gallery's visibility and public profile.
Assist with the planning, coordination and on-the-ground management of gallery events.
Actively suggest and deliver a wide range of events, including private views, exhibition openings, artist talks, collector previews and guided walkthroughs.
Coordinate guest lists, manage RSVPs, develop seating plans and oversee front-of-house check-in.
Work closely with the sales and communications teams to manage event invitations, confirmations and post-event follow-ups.
Support creative approaches to audience development, identifying new communities, partners and formats for engagement.
Required Experience & Knowledge
Demonstrate strong interest in the art world.
Experience in communications, marketing or public relations within the art world or an adjacent luxury or creative industry.
Show excellent written English and an ability to write clearly and confidently about art.
Skills & Attributes
Demonstrate exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills alongside strong organisational ability and meticulous attention to detail.
Bring a strong visual sensibility, confidence in external communication, the ability to manage multiple priorities independently, and a collaborative approach to working within a small team.
Desirable Experience
Experience with Artlogic CMS; working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop; and an established press network.
Additional language skills (e.g. French or Mandarin) are a plus.
This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm. Occasional additional
hours may be required for events and exhibition openings.
