We are looking for an experienced Simulator Engineer to join our team. This is an exciting role where you will be a key member of a small team responsible for maintaining CAE simulators and their ancillary support systems (Scenario generation and debrief). This role will be based at RAF Waddington in support of the MQ-9B Protector simulators
You will assist the RAF with the maintenance and repair of the simulation devices (hardware and software).
Key Tasks
1. Support the Flight Simulator Training Devices.
2. Attend maintenance calls, device setup, perform snag clearance, etc…
3. Independently perform the Preventive Maintenance Tasks (PMTs) and Daily Readiness (DR) on the training devices and associated systems.
4. Ensure that PMTs are carried out according to the standards, and signed off.
5. Ensure that all recurrent QTG runs are done, and ensure that deficiencies associated to recurrent runs are actioned in a timely manner, and followed up on until closure.
6. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve training device issues. Work with senior & remote (Montreal) colleagues on AOGs. Communicate and share information with colleagues and other departments (logistics, scheduling, training department, etc…) to improve training delivery and customer satisfaction.
7. Make use of the Maintenance Management System to record, track, and review maintenance activities.
8. Comply with local & global CAE Environmental Health & Safety standards, instructions, and safe working procedures. Exercise duty of care for own H&S, and that of others who may be affected by his/her work.
9. Hands on interaction with multiple software and hardware platforms.
10. Hardware setup and integration.
11. Occasional Software scripting, debugging and integration.
12. Schedule and coordinate hardware and software integration tasks with other groups.
13. Thorough understanding of configuration management systems, hardware interfaces, and software development.
14. Coordinate and review technical/operational deliverables prior to submission to customer.
15. Support the development of close working relationship between CAE UK and other CAE geographical entities to promote the reuse of core products and technologies
16. Maintain currency with software related technical advances and their application to CAE solutions.
17. Preparation of requirement specifications and other documents pertinent to CAE Software processes.
18. Required to travel to multiple locations within the UK to support a number of CAE customers and projects
19. Maybe required to travel outside the UK for ad hoc support requests
Minimum Qualifications
20. We are looking for someone with a minimum of 5 years engineering experience in the field of simulation or similar.
21. Good experience of working with Hardware, Software and electronics
22. Good PC & network skills are required
23. Flexible to travel and be away from home from time to time – sometimes at short notice Will need to be resident in the Lincolnshire area
24. Either holds or is able to obtain UK security clearance (requires at least 5 years UK residency)
25. Must have existing rights to live and work in the UK
