Responsibilities
* Support portfolio managers by communicating investment views to clients and managing a range of funds, model portfolio services and advisory accounts with varying risk tolerances and implementation methods.
* Conduct research across asset classes—equities, fixed income, currencies and commodities—considering both macroeconomic and market‑based factors, and improve analytical frameworks used for tactical and strategic asset allocation decisions.
* Generate investment views for potential implementation in client mandates, including regional equity tilts, credit rating preferences and currency hedging decisions.
* Communicate investment views and the broader macro‑economic and market backdrop to internal stakeholders, clients and the press; produce and present research for the multi‑asset team’s weekly and monthly asset allocation research and markets update meetings.
* Produce written content for clients and the press on market and economic topics and events; provide performance and market commentaries for client reports across a range of mandates.
* Support the day‑to‑day management of client mandates by generating performance reports and writing commentaries.
* Carry out other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
* Deep interest in financial markets and macroeconomic research, with a strong drive to understand what drives markets day‑to‑day.
* Experience in constructing econometric models and working with complex spreadsheets to manipulate market and economic data.
* Significant experience in asset allocation research within a multi‑asset team, developing well‑considered investment views for implementation by portfolio managers.
* Experience researching either equity markets or fixed income and currencies from a top‑down, asset allocation perspective.
* Ability to cover the full breadth of asset classes—equities, fixed income, currencies and commodities—and provide challenge across the spectrum.
* Capacity to adapt to and develop the team’s analysis frameworks.
* Understanding of key instruments used in multi‑asset portfolios such as funds, ETFs, individual equities, bonds, futures, forwards and other derivatives.
* Proficient communication skills, delivering frequent research output in presentations and written formats.
* Experience with Bloomberg and LSEG products for retrieving and manipulating data.
* Experience with Python programming language (preferred).
* Language skills to communicate with a global client base.
Skills (Must Have)
* Strong drive to push beyond the first level in trying to understand market drivers, working with a reasonable degree of independence and effective problem solving.
* Experience in constructing econometric models.
* Strong interest in markets and macroeconomic research, focusing on independent, autonomous analysis.
* Experience researching equity markets or fixed income and currencies from a top‑down, asset allocation perspective.
* Flexibility to cover the entire breadth of asset classes while providing challenge across the spectrum.
* Adaptability to and development of analysis frameworks.
* Knowledge of instruments such as funds, ETFs, equities, bonds, futures, forwards and derivatives.
* Manipulation of market and economic data in complex spreadsheets.
* Effective communication, delivering presentations and written content.
