Entry Criteria for a Specialty Doctor: A doctor appointed to this grade: shall have full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council (GMC); And shall have completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a less than full-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme or specialty registrar locum appointment for training (LAT); Or shall have equivalent training, experience or competencies, either in the UK or overseas. Applications are welcome for the above Permanent, full time (40 hours per week) post based in St John’s Hospital. Applications are invited from registered medical practitioners for the post of specialty grade doctor in Haematology and Oncology at St John’s Hospital (SJH). The appointment will be 10 PAs (1 WTE) and will be based at SJH. Consideration will be given to requests for part time working. This is a new post arising from the requirement to support the exciting rapid expansion of our centre. The post holder will be expected to provide an autonomous service within the Haematology and Oncology Day unit with consultant and nursing support. The role is primarily haematology SACT prescribing and assessment, oversight of supportive therapies and preparation/follow-up for Haematology patients undertaking transplants, CAR-T therapies etc. The main focus of this post is haematology. However, Oncology patients are treated within the same Day Case SACT Unit – the postholder will be required to support safe SACT delivery and urgent reviews across the Oncology and Haematology patient cohort, when needed. Appropriate training will be provided to allow the post-holder to perform these duties. Other duties such as participation in outpatient clinics can be considered depending on the post-holder’s interest areas and service needs. The post-holder will be required to cross cover SACT prescribing and assessment. The post-holder will be expected to provide an autonomous service within the Haematology and Oncology Day unit with consultant and nursing support with a specialist interest in SACT prescribing, haematological malignancies and clinical assessment and support to oncology SACT prescribing. The post-holder will work very closely with other SJH team members to provide service cover for 52 weeks a year. The job plan involves attendance at multi-disciplinary meetings at SJH.
