The Sports Business Group is a market-leading team of industry specialists working exclusively onsports assignments. In particular, this includes supporting sports organisations to create efficient, effective and sustainable business models, and creating a regulatory environment which protects value and facilitates growth.

The group has four market offerings:

Sports Advisory: We create strategies and reporting structures/mechanisms to support the growth and sustainability of elite sporting organisations in a responsible manner, including Governance and Regulations services.

Transformation Advisory: We advise organisations on future-proofing the sports business, charting new opportunities and driving innovation from ideation to delivery.

Sports M&A Advisory: We support major global sports transactions, facilitating client investment through M&A to create future value for private and institutional investors.

Economic Growth & Development: We build a vision for economic development and growth through sport, advising governments, public sector and private investors on how to maximise the impacts of their investments.

The continued growth and professionalisation of sport is heightening the need for robust governance and regulation. To help us address this increased market demand, we are enhancing our governance and regulations in sport team with two new roles based in Manchester or London.

We are looking for a new colleague to join our team as an Assistant Manager with relevant experience of working on audit, regulatory and/or risk/governance matters within a professional environment.

You’ll have a strong track record in your career to date and share our excitement about enhancing governance and regulations within the sports industry to protect value and create platforms for growth.

Your role would include:

* Supporting on various sports governance assignments, drawing on your analytical and communication skills, to assess governance matters and identify key areas for improvement with the overall aim of establishing efficient, effective and sustainable sports organisations;
* Supporting the development and implementation of good governance criteria and financial regulations in sport, utilising and building on your existing financial and analytical skills to develop solutions to complex challenges, such as accounting/financial reporting matters, and compliance monitoring and enforcement approaches;
* Working effectively as part of diverse project teams, taking accountability for your areas of work and supporting the high-quality delivery of projects operating with clients and amongst their stakeholders;
* Assisting with market eminence activities such as the development of the Sports Business Group’s leading publications, for example the Annual Review of Football Finance, and the Deloitte Sports Regulators Network events; and
* Supporting business development activities, preparing discussion materials, responding to requests for proposal and participating in the maintenance and development of client relationships.

* Strong track-record and experience of audit, regulatory and/or risk/governance work and working in a professional environment.
* Ability to tackle difficult challenges and articulate complex messages, using strategic thinking, frameworks and experience to structure, articulate and deliver recommendations, tailoring messaging depending on the audience/stakeholder.
* Collaborative, proactive in nature and enjoy working as a team to understand and explore complex challenges as well as collaborating and taking the initiative to deliver project objectives.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills including an ability to write precisely and articulate complex issues in a manner that facilitates common understanding.
* Evidence of strong financial and analytical skills and an attention to detail.
* Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (in particular Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel).
* Qualified (or part-qualified) professional accountant.
* Evidence of knowledge and understanding of the business of sport, particularly in respect of governance and regulatory matters.

We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints (e.g., in relation to any financial interests and employment relationships). This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm, and also prohibitions on certain employment relationships (e.g., you are not permitted to hold a secondary employment role with SEC audit clients of the firm whilst being employed by the firm).
