Job Description Summary

Join the Retail Finance Change team as a Technical Business Analyst, bridging Finance stakeholders and developers to deliver data‑led change. You’ll capture requirements, translate them into clear technical specifications (including for Python‑based automation), and support delivery through testing and rollout, using strong analysis and communication skills plus Excel and working knowledge of SQL.

* SALARY: as per pay range
* LOCATION: Leeds, Wellington Place
* ADDITIONAL LOCATION(S): Halifax, Bristol, Cardiff, Newport
* HOURS: Full Time, 35 hours per week
* WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid – at least two days per week (40%) at one of our office sites

We're looking for a driven and detail‑loving Technical Business Analyst to join our Retail Finance Change team. This is your chance to be at the heart of high‑impact change – bridging the gap between business needs and technology.


Responsibilities

* Act as a liaison between Finance teams and developers to ensure alignment and clarity throughout delivery.
* Collaborate with business units to gather, document & validate functional and technical requirements.
* Translate business needs into clear technical specifications for development teams, particularly for Python‑based tools and models.
* Analyse existing systems and processes to identify areas for improvement and automation.
* Create and maintain high‑quality documentation including process maps, data dictionaries, project scopes and technical specifications.
* Coordinate governance activities and ensure compliance with internal standards and documentation requirements.
* Facilitate workshops, meetings and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
* Support full project lifecycle, including user acceptance testing (UAT), training and post‑implementation reviews.


Qualifications

* 12 months or more experience as a Business Analyst working closely with software developers in a data‑driven or technical product environment – ideally in analytics, forecasting or internal tools.
* 12 months or more developing an understanding of system analysis, software development lifecycle and data structures.
* At least 12 months experience with Excel and a working understanding of SQL. Familiarity with documentation and collaboration tools such as JIRA and Confluence, and experience using process‑mapping platforms/tools.
* Proven verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
* Ability to independently manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced setting.
* Awareness of software engineering concepts and development practices.


Desirable Qualities

* A background in finance or hands‑on experience with finance systems such as TM1, SAP and Oracle.
* Familiarity with data structures and data pipelines.
* Knowledge of data governance principles, including data quality and data lineage.
