SEND Teaching Assistant
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Sheffield. This role involves supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them access the curriculum, develop independence, and thrive in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND, including autism, ADHD, and speech & language needs
2. Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored learning activities
3. Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
4. Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets
5. Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
6. Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and SENCO
7. Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals
Requirements:
8. Experience working with children with SEND in a primary setting (preferred)
9. A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach
10. Strong communication and teamwork skills
11. Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) are desirable
12. Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
