Position Overview:
As a Payroll Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing. You will assist with weekly payroll tasks, including creating timesheets and invoices, making manual adjustments and reversals, calculating statutory payments, and issuing payslips and P45s. Your attention to detail will help guarantee that all payroll outputs are produced and delivered correctly.
Key responsibilities:
Monitor all payroll-related inboxes
* Respond and liaise with clients in a professional manner
* Ensure all emails are actioned promptly (within 2 hours)
* Review inboxes and ensure all emails are actioned by the end of the day
Uploading of hours
* Ensure unique identifying information (ref number, DOB, NI number) is used when uploading
* All non-matching hours moved to outstanding to prevent overpayments
* Identify agencies that are not using unique identifying information
* Ensure invoices are sent in every case where relevant
Advances
* Calculate advances accurately and add to the payroll software appropriately
* Ensure they are recovered on subsequent pay runs
* Communicate any required reloads or non-existent workers quickly to the account managers for updating of agencies
Payroll queries
* Answer internal and external payroll queries accurately and professionally within a prompt timeframe
* Calculate reversals and communicate these promptly to all parties concerned
* Constantly question our current processes, identifying issues we are encountering, with a view of coming up with solutions to escalate to the Directors for approval before implementing

Qualifications / Skills:
* Previous basic knowledge of payroll
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
* High attention to detail with good organisational skills
* Emphasis on ownership and problem-solving
* Previous experience with a payroll software would be beneficial
* 5 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade 9 to 4/A+ to C, including English Language and Mathematics
Package / Benefits:
We will offer a full-time salary of between £23,810 – 25,000 per annum, dependent on experience, with access to a fantastic range of employee benefits:
