A distinguished and long-established girls' independent school in the heart of Westminster seeks an inspiring and experienced Head of Economics for a part-time, permanent position commencing in September. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and shape the Economics provision within a school renowned for its academic excellence and commitment to empowering young women.
Responsibilities
 * Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Economics department, ensuring the delivery of an outstanding and engaging curriculum across all key stages, likely including A-Level.
 * Develop and implement innovative teaching methodologies and resources to inspire students and promote a deep understanding of economic principles and their application to the real world.
 * Lead, support, and mentor a team of Economics teachers, fostering a collaborative and high-achieving department.
 * Oversee the planning, delivery, and assessment of the Economics curriculum, ensuring high standards and excellent student outcomes.
 * Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning within the department, implementing strategies for continuous improvement.
 * Contribute to the broader academic life of the school and potentially participate in relevant extracurricular activities.
 * Manage departmental resources effectively.
 * The role is part-time, with the specific number of days/hours to be discussed.
Qualifications
 * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong academic background in Economics.
 * Significant experience teaching Economics at the secondary level, with a proven track record of leadership and raising student achievement, ideally including experience with A-Level.
 * A deep understanding of the Economics curriculum and current pedagogical best practices.
 * Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
 * A passion for Economics and the ability to inspire and motivate both students and colleagues.
 * Experience in curriculum development, assessment, and departmental management.
 * A commitment to the education and empowerment of girls.
