An exciting opportunity has arisen at St Richard's Hospital for a band 6 Arrhythmia Nurse to join the cardiology team. This is offered as a 12-month secondment to cover one of the existing team who will be covering a sabbatical in another area.
The post holder will work with the arrhythmia nurse specialist team to provide care to patients with arrhythmias, being supervised and supported by the Arrhythmia Nurse Specialists as they develop their skills.
They will assist in the deliver of the nurse-led clinic for patients, providing education and support to patients with arrhythmias.
They will support patients with their condition the telephone and email helpline, assessing patient’s symptoms and developing management plans, passing on complex decisions to the arrhythmia nurse specialists.
They will work alongside the Electrophysiology Consultants and wider arrhythmia team to gain understand in the management of arrhythmias, including the management of atrial fibrillation and to offer lifestyle support to this patient group

Main duties of the job
1. Attend multidisciplinary team meetings and assisting with MDT administration
2. Work collaboratively with the arrhythmia clinical nurse specialist to deliver shared care to the arrhythmia nurse caseload
3. To work under indirect supervision, liaising with all members of the multidisciplinary team in order to provide clinical expertise, emotional and psychological support and education to arrhythmia patients and their carers
4. Provide timely written and verbal information for patients having a complex device implanted and follow up telephone support
5. Support patients admitted to hospital with a complex arrhythmia requiring inpatient complex devices
6. Provide telephone / email advice, education and triage as appropriate for patients, carers and healthcare professionals who request help or support.
7. Assess patient’s symptoms and developing management plans.
8. Provide support to patients with psychological and emotional challenges
9. Work alongside the Electrophysiology Consultants and wider arrhythmia team to gain understand in the management of arrhythmias (including atrial fibrillation) and to offer lifestyle support to this patient group
