🍳 Second Chef
Purpose
To prepare, cook, and serve food to high standards, manage and motivate kitchen staff, uphold hygiene and safety protocols, and support daily catering operations.
Key Responsibilities
Deputise for the Catering Manager when needed
Assist with staff scheduling and work allocation
Support food ordering, storage, and defect reporting
Ensure compliance with Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations
Monitor food temperatures and hygiene standards
Maintain kitchen cleanliness and follow opening/closing procedures
Develop personal skills and support team trainingPerformance Indicators
Contribution to gross profits and budget goals
Improvements in health & safety, client satisfaction, and food qualitySkills & Experience
Essential:
City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or NVQ Level 2
Basic food safety certification
Strong communication and numerical skills
Knowledge of food safety and health regulations
Teamwork and attention to detailDesirable:
IOSH/CIEH qualifications
Catering industry experience, ideally in a military settingAdditional Info
