About the role:
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Underwriter to join our High Net Worth Underwriting team in either York or Bristol. The role will primarily focus on High Net Worth Motor, with opportunities to learn and underwrite High Net Worth Home (Bespoke).
You will be responsible for building and maintaining productive relationships with our network of NFU Mutual Agents, providing technical support on renewals, mid-term adjustments, and new business.
As a High Net Worth Motor Underwriter, you will underwrite risks aligned with NFUM’s risk appetite and collaborate with colleagues across sales, underwriting, head office, and the agency network to ensure excellent service and underwriting standards.
NFU Mutual provides a comprehensive induction and tailored training plan to support your career development, including ongoing training to enhance your underwriting skills and market knowledge, with cross-skilling opportunities in High Net Worth home products.
This role promotes a healthy work/life balance with a 35-hour work week, shift patterns between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday, no weekends, and a hybrid working model allowing up to 80% remote work once fully trained.
About you:
We seek a customer-focused underwriting professional committed to delivering optimal solutions while managing risk and supporting business objectives. Experience in General Insurance motor underwriting is essential; High Net Worth expertise is advantageous but not mandatory, as training will be provided. An intermediate underwriting authority or active pursuit of it is preferred.
You should be proactive, self-motivated, and dedicated to high standards. Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills are vital, along with the ability to work collaboratively and influence across teams. Demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills, resilience, and adaptability are important qualities for success in this role.
