Job summary
Two posts are advertised for the role of Associate Clinical Director of Research and Development (ACD R&D), contributing to the next phase of development of R&D in the Trust.
The ACDs will be directly accountable to the Clinical Director of R&D and will work closely with the Head of Research and R&D manager. Both posts will be expected to deputise where appropriate for the Clinical Director on matters relating to research and innovation.
Post 1: Will focus on the safe and effective delivery of high quality research involving service users and carers as participants, providing leadership and support for a group of research leads across the specialties
Post 2: Will focus on the growth of commercial research and Clinical Trials of Investigational Medicinal Products in the Trust, and will input to the job planning and appraisal of clinical academics.
Both posts will support the CD for R&D in supporting the development and delivery of the innovations department in the Trust.
Main duties of the job
To work closely with the Trusts R&D Manager on the delivery of NIHR Portfolio studies, including identifying and supporting Principal Investigators.
To provide leadership and support for the Trusts Research Leads for specialties and commercial studies
To support the Clinical Director of R&D and the Head of Research in the development and delivery of the Trusts Research and Development Strategy.

1. Experience of leadership in a clinical or research setting in the NHS or Higher Education sector
2. Principal Investigator status on an NIHR portfolio study in the NHS
