The people we support can be independent but may need some support to stay independently safe. They may also require reminders to look after themselves in a healthy manner and reassurance around mobility, cooking, and household chores. They benefit from routines, structure and consistency. They appreciate patience and taking time to understand their needs, likes and dislikes. Activities they enjoy include listening to music, watching crime shows, shopping, meeting dogs and other animals, and spending time in their large garden.
The house is in a new build in Turriff with 3 bedrooms; 1 room is for staff. There is always 1 colleague on shift and for sleepovers. The team has training in autism and learning difficulties. Shifts include 7am to 3pm, 3pm to 11pm, and sleepovers from 11pm to 7am.
Sometimes the people we support need a male or female person to support them. For this role a female colleague is required. This is a genuine occupational requirement as defined by the Equality Act 2010.
The ideal candidate will have a Level 3 in Social Care and strong experience in mental health, autism and sensory communication, and physical health. If you do not have a qualification, you will need to have experience in social care. You will know how to connect with people and be passionate about supporting people to live independently. You will also be a brilliant mentor and share your skills and experiences with your colleagues.
We will develop your talents with a range of specialist training, including the opportunity to learn Positive Behaviour Support methods, Makaton and the Picture Exchange System.
During recruitment you will meet the people we support in their home. This will allow you to see their wonderful personalities first-hand and fully understand the level of support that they require.
We look for people who share our values: We Include; We Deliver; We Aspire; We Respect; We Enable. These are at the heart of everything we do to deliver high quality, consistent care and support.
