Job Summary
Band 3 Clinical Support Worker Ward 4 West Cumberland Hospital, Up to 37.5 hours available per week, full time/ part time, shifts include nights, weekends and bank holidays. Ward 4 is a 32 bedded acute care of the elderly ward. Patient safety is embedded in everything we do. Our aim is to provide an excellent patient experience from admission to discharge ensuring all physical and psychological needs are met. Ward 4 cares for elderly patients with a range of needs, from acutely unwell patients to managing long term conditions, complex discharge planning to end of life care.

Main Duties
* Main job is to assist the registered nurses (or other healthcare practitioners) in providing high quality patient care.
* When trained and deemed competent undertake clinical activities, using appropriate equipment.
* Maintain patients' privacy and dignity at all times and provide care in a compassionate and sensitive manner; be an effective part of the multi-disciplinary team contributing to the departmental objectives.
* Continue to develop and maintain competencies in nursing tasks to maintain high quality safe care.
* Post holder will be expected to contribute to housekeeping and other ward/department duties as required, e.g. general tidiness, replenish stock and ensure clinical equipment is clean, working and stored correctly.
* Contributes to the work of the department by working under direct or indirect supervision of registered practitioners or assistant practitioners.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
* oLevel 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3;
* oTheoretical knowledge
* oExperience of a range of care and related procedures
* oClinical Observations
* oKnowledge of data protection legislation and health and safety at work legislation
* oNational Care Certificate or commitment to complete within 12 weeks of commencing employment
* oNumeracy and Literacy Level 2
Essential Knowledge & Experience
* oExperience of working in health or social care.
* oExperience of undertaking and recording clinical observations and escalating changes or findings
* oWorking knowledge of legislation underpinning care provision
* oUnderstanding of the importance of robust, accurate, clear, timely documentation.
