Overview
We are seeking an Assistant Policy Officer to join the Connected Communities team within Renfrewshire Councils Policy and Partnerships Service. This is a great opportunity to develop your career as a policy professional within a supportive and dynamic local government environment.
The post will provide dedicated policy support to the Fairer Renfrewshire team, who lead on Renfrewshire Councils strategic approach to poverty and inequalities. The team ensure responsive and flexible policy support is provided to the Chief Executive and Corporate Management Team, service management teams and elected members.
Role and responsibilities
* Provide dedicated policy support to the Fairer Renfrewshire team and support the Council’s strategic approach to poverty and inequalities.
* Provide responsive and flexible policy support to the Chief Executive, Corporate Management Team, service management teams and elected members.
* Work as part of the wider Policy and Partnerships division to offer high‑level strategic support to Council services, the Head of Policy and Partnerships, and the Corporate Management Team as required.
* Operate within the Policy and Partnerships team’s approach of using generic job descriptions so officers can flexibly support services as required by the Council.
Requirements and qualifications
* Organised individual with experience in producing written work for a range of audiences.
* Ability to analyse and present complex information.
* Flexibility in approach with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
* Effective ICT, organisational, time management and verbal and written communication skills.
* Experience in local government or a similar diverse organisation is desirable but not essential.
Contract and other information
The post is for two years, or until the requirement for the post ceases, whichever date is earlier.
