Environment Officer
Job Overview
Wakefield Council is seeking an Environment Officer to enforce environmental regulations, address environmental crime such as littering and fly‑tipping, and manage highways enforcement issues. The role plays a key part in reducing environmental crime and preventing anti‑social behaviour, fostering community safety and supporting residents to maintain a safe, fear‑free environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Take enforcement action on environmental regulations, including littering, fly‑tipping and other environmental crimes.
* Deal with highways enforcement matters within the local authority.
* Contribute to the reduction of environmental crime and prevention of anti‑social behaviour.
* Promote community safety, support residents, and sustain a safe and fear‑free environment.
Qualifications
* Full current UK driving licence.
* Educated to GCSE A‑C standard.
* Good level of literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
* Ability to articulate both in writing and orally.
Working Hours & Conditions
Shift pattern 08:00 to 22:00. Pay rate reflects shift work, unsocial hours and weekend work.
Salary & Details
£32,061.00 – £34,434.00 Grade 7, 37 hours, Permanent. Expires 05/04/2026. Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Job Type: Full Time.
