About The Role
IDP offers an exciting and challenging opportunity for a flexible, talented Senior Masterplanner/Urban Designer to join our Central office on a permanent basis.
Requirements
1. Experience working on a variety of UK projects, mainly medium to very large-scale residential and mixed-use masterplans and housing layouts for public and private sector clients.
2. Acting as the primary contact for clients on existing projects.
3. Project managing significant, high-profile projects, leading multi-disciplinary teams including our in-house landscape team.
4. Preparing tender submissions, bids, and participating in project interviews and presentations.
5. Leading project teams effectively.
6. Conducting site, context, and character appraisals to inform design decisions.
7. Developing masterplan drawings, design strategies, and detailed illustrations to support design principles.
8. Producing comprehensive Design Codes and Design and Access Statements, including written and graphic outputs.
9. Engaging with local communities and stakeholders through collaborative workshops and public exhibitions.
Desired Skills And Experience
1. An Urban Design PG Dip or Masters; ideally with an undergraduate degree in Architecture. Candidates with a Planning undergraduate degree should demonstrate a high skill level in detailed masterplan and layout delivery. Less formal qualifications may be considered with an excellent track record and a strong portfolio.
2. Experience working on UK residential and mixed-use development masterplans in an Urban Design or detailed layout role.
3. Strong design background within a consultancy environment.
4. Project management skills and experience on complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
5. Understanding of Architecture and Landscape Architecture, with the ability to develop detailed codes and 3D briefs.
6. Excellent written communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with an interest in community engagement.
7. An understanding of business development and client needs in the residential sector.
8. Ability to produce high-quality hand drawings and a keen eye for detail.
Qualifications
RIBA + Urban Design Masters / PG Dip; Bachelors in Architecture + Urban Design Masters / PG Dip; RTPI + Urban Design Masters / PG Dip.
