Progress Teachers are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to support a Year 4 pupil with challenging behaviour/SEND, supporting them to overcome a range of barriers to education and make positive progress within a mainstream primary school local to Ilkeston Derbyshire.
The role is full time to start immediately or accordingly to your available start date, for the right candidate. There is opportunity to secure a permanent contract through this position for the right candidate!
You will be working with a KS2 pupil with behavioural needs that can stem from various learning difficulties (Autism, ADHD) and Mental Health disorders, to ensure they are fully supported throughout their educational journey to achieve maximum results!
Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one and group support to students with behavioural challenges, implementing tailored behaviour management strategies.
Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to develop and implement behaviour support plans.
Monitor and assess student behaviour, identifying triggers and implementing proactive interventions.
Act as a liaison between the school, parents, and external agencies involved in behaviour support.
Work closely with the school leadership team to contribute to the development and implementation of school-wide behaviour policies.
Qualifications / Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work, or a related field (desirable)
Proven experience as a Behaviour Mentor or in a similar role in an educational setting is highly advantageous.
Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and positive behaviour support strategies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
Empathy, patience, and a proactive approach to behaviour support.
Certification in behaviour intervention or related field is a plus.
A valid DBS on the Update Service OR be willingness to obtain.
