This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join a specialist community perinatal mental health service.
The specialist perinatal community mental health service provides advice, support, and oversight of the BSW perinatal mental health pathway from pre‑conception through to the infant's second birthday. The team works closely with, and supports, health and social care professionals across primary care, maternity services, early years, and adult mental health teams.
The team holds a caseload of women experiencing moderate to severe perinatal mental health difficulties, where the level of need exceeds the expertise of primary care or general mental health services. This may also include women who are currently well but at high risk of relapse.
Due to the complexity of our service user group and their needs, we are seeking an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with relevant post‑registration experience in adult mental health services. We are particularly keen to attract someone confident in delivering OT assessments and interventions, including both group and one‑to‑one work.
We offer regular opportunities for CPD and supervision—both clinical and professional—as well as the chance to contribute to ongoing service development.
Working as a key part of the team, you will routinely undertake all aspects of the Occupational Therapy process, including assessing each service user's occupational functioning, and planning, implementing, and reviewing appropriate interventions and treatment methods. You will be able to deliver a range of individual and group interventions that place social inclusion and recovery principles at their core.
As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for a caseload of service users for whom you will oversee the full Occupational Therapy process.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
Delivering the Occupational Therapy process of assessment, intervention, and evaluation in line with relevant guidelines and legislation, using up‑to‑date and evidence‑based practice.
Working as an autonomous practitioner, managing your own caseload.
Providing both standardised and non‑standardised specialist assessments.
Developing, facilitating, and monitoring individual and group intervention programmes.
Working as a key member of the multidisciplinary team, attending relevant meetings and providing timely feedback.
Supporting OT students as part of their practice placement experience.
Please see the attached job description for a full list of duties and responsibilities.
