My client is a service business based in the Manchester City Centre area. Due to the growth of the business and various projects there is now requirement for a Financial Controller. This role will be on an initial 6 months but could be longer .
The successful person will be responsible for managing the financial operations of the group, ensuring accurate reporting, robust financial controls, and strategic financial planning. This role requires a hands-on approach to financial management, working closely with operational teams to drive profitability, cash flow efficiency, and compliance.\n\nReporting to the Group FC duties will include:\n\n * Oversee and support the preparation of monthly management accounts for various business units.\n\n * Lead the monthly financial close process, ensuring accuracy in revenue recognition, cost allocation, and accruals.\n\n * Conduct variance analysis against budgets and provide actionable insights to management.\n\n * Maintain a strong general ledger structure, ensuring accuracy in financial transactions and reconciliations.\n\n * Develop and oversee annual budgets and rolling financial forecasts for each business unit.\n\n * Work with operational teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and margin improvements.\n\n * Monitor and report on KPIs, cash flow, and working capital, ensuring proactive management.\n\n * Support the CFO in strategic planning, investment decisions, and acquisitions.\n\n * Oversee cash flow forecasting, ensuring the group has adequate liquidity for operations and growth.\n\n * Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, including VAT, Corporation Tax, and PAYE.\n\n * Implement and maintain financial controls to prevent errors, fraud, and inefficiencies.\n\n * Improve financial reporting automation and efficiency, optimizing accounting software and ERP systems.\n\n * Lead the implementation of new processes, policies, and best practices across the group.\n\nThe right candidate for the role will be\n\n * Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)\n\n * Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management.\n\n * Hands-on experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g.Sage, SAP, NetSuite, Xero).\n\n * Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards, tax compliance, and financial regulations.\n\n * Ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic insights to non-financial stakeholders.\n\n * Excellent leadership and team management skills.\n\n * Knowledge of job costing, WIP accounting, and project-based financial reporting.\n\nIn return an excellent package is offered with this role along with hybrid working
