42.5 hours per week (8-5 Monday- Friday)
About the role:
We are looking for a skilled and reliable Multi Skilled Operative with proven experience to join our responsive repairs team in hastings covering hastings to Brighton. This is a hands-on role focused on delivering day-to-day repairs within social housing, ensuring properties are safe, functional, and maintained to a high standard for residents.
Working across occupied homes, you’ll be responsible for carrying out a wide range of reactive maintenance tasks across multiple trades. From minor repairs to more involved maintenance issues, you’ll take a first-time fix approach wherever possible, helping to minimise repeat visits and deliver a reliable service.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced repairs environment, can fault-find effectively, and takes pride in delivering quality workmanship. You’ll also play a key part in providing a positive experience for residents, working respectfully within their homes and keeping them informed throughout the job.

Duties
1. Carry out day-to-day responsive repairs and maintenance within occupied social housing properties
2. Diagnose faults and complete repairs across a range of trades, ensuring a first-time fix wherever possible
3. Complete carpentry repairs including skirting, architraves, doors, frames, locks, and ironmongery
4. Undertake minor plumbing repairs such as leaks, tap replacements, and unblocking sinks
5. Carry out patch plastering and make good following repair works
6. Complete basic tiling repairs including regrouting and resealing
7. Carry out painting and decorating to reinstate areas after maintenance works
8. Ensure all repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards and SLAs
9. Work in occupied properties, maintaining a high level of customer care and respect for residents’ homes
10. Participate in out-of-hours emergency repairs rota where required
11. Identify and report follow-on works or additional maintenance issues
12. Deliver excellent customer service and communicate clearly with residents about works being carried out
13. Accurately record job details, materials used, and outcomes using handheld devices
14. Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle to a good standard
15. Manage workload effectively to meet daily targets and appointments
Key Criteria:
16. Proven experience in plastering, including patching, skimming and making good
17. Experience working within domestic or social housing repairs
18. Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance across multiple trades (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating)
19. Willingness to assist and support additional trades alongside plastering works
20. Comfortable managing jobs independently from start to finish
21. Strong attention to detail with a right first time approach
22. Professional and customer‑focused manner when working in residents’ homes
23. Good understanding of health & safety procedures
24. Confident using handheld devices for job updates and reporting
25. Full UK driving licence
26. Own hand tools
27. Willingness to join an out‑of‑hours emergency rota
