Your Role as a Care Assistant for Adults with Autism
As a Care Assistant, you will play a critical role in delivering hands-on support and care, focusing on each individual’s unique needs and personal growth. This includes helping them build independence, social skills, and self-esteem while fostering a safe, welcoming environment.
About Ty Carreg
Located in West Aberthaw near the seaside town of Barry, Ty Carreg is a specialist facility for twelve adults with autism, aged 18 and above. Set in beautifully converted stone barns, Ty Carreg offers both self-contained apartments and shared living spaces designed to support diverse needs.
A Day in the Life of a Care Assistant at Ty Carreg
* Providing personalized care: ensuring each individual's physical, emotional, and social needs are met with respect and sensitivity.
* Encouraging participation: supporting individuals in recreational activities, community outings, and daily social interactions.
* Building independence: promoting self-esteem and encouraging milestones and celebrations.
* Tailoring support plans: working closely with individuals to develop responsive care plans.
* Documenting daily progress: keeping accurate records of daily activities, development, and notable events.
* Supporting daily living: helping with meal preparation, light housekeeping, and creating a warm home atmosphere.
Looking for People Who Care and Have

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, building strong relationships.
* Resilience and patience when faced with challenges, adapting to individual needs.
* A willingness to learn and follow guidance from the team.
* Basic IT skills for record keeping and communication.
* A full UK driving licence – essential for transport to appointments and activities.
* The right to work in the UK with at least 12 months remaining on your visa (if applicable).
* No experience needed – just passion, patience, and commitment.
