Job Description
Our client is looking for a Quantity Surveyor with Main Contractor experience to join a steady growing team of professionals. They have a very close-knit team of and are big on our team ethos.
The company has grown organically year on year and provides an excellent growth opportunity from within.
They serve a range of client types and are looking to strengthening their capabilities working for Main Contractors (as well as for homeowners and developers). There is an opportunity for the candidate to assist with the companys client-side services (for homeowners and developers) as well as our pre-construction services.
Responsibilities:
1. Subcontractor Procurement:i) Setting up, updating and management of procurement schedules for each project, and chairing procurement meetingsii) Preparing detailed scope of works and / or measured pricing schedules, and / or marked up drawings per package of worksiii) Preparing and coordinating tender enquiriesiv) Analysing and comparing tender returnsv) Normalising tender returns and raising, coordinating, and dealing with queriesvi) Negotiating with preferred contractorsvii) Raising subcontract orders
2. Monthly Commercial Reporting
i) Set up new CVR document for new projectsii) Allocating all costs to appropriate budgetsiii) Ensure forecasts final spends are always as up to date as possibleiv) Report CVR to commercial manager / director at the end of each month3. Change / Variation Controli) Tracking and identifying changesii) Coordinating, negotiation and agreeing cost implication of changes with effected subcontractors, suppliers, and operational teamiii) Coordinating, negotiating and agreeing value implication of changes with the clientiv) Ensuring the change control process is dealt with in accordance with the main contract and subcontracts that are in place
4. Payments
i) Reviewing and responding to sub-contractor payment applications in appropriate timeframes in accordance with subcontract agreementsii) Preparing and agreeing payment applications to the client in accordance with main contract agreements
5. Contract Management & Administrationi) Reviewing main contracts, raising concerns and queries regarding terms and ensuring any contract risks, unique mechanisms, and general fundamentals are understood and communicated to the project teamii) Ensuring the contract is administered appropriately by the team and raising any concerns if this is not the case for any reasons so appropriate actions can be determined and undertaken by the business
6. Material Procurement
i) Extracting relevant specifications and design informationii) Preparing and coordinating enquiriesiii) Analysing and comparing tender returnsiv) Normalising tender returns and raising, coordinating, and dealing with queries7. Estimatingi) Undertaking sub-contract procurement tasks for tenders similar to that described under Subcontractor Procurementii) Coordinating queries, ensuring all works captured within all tender documentations are included within and added to pricing scheduleiii) Preparing measure pricing schedules and estimates for works
Skill Requirements:
1. Proven track record fulfilling the above responsibilities2. Strong on excel3. Strong with electronic measuring4. Strong communicating with clients and subcontractors5. Experience managing more junior staff would be preferable
