Join Calderdale Council’s Adult Social Care Teams. Calderdale Council is the most improved adult social services Directorate in Yorkshire Humber, rated Good by CQC following inspection in 2025. An opportunity has arisen to join the Mental Health Social Work Team.
The Mental Health Social Work Team is a well‑established team of experienced Social Workers and a Service Coordinator, delivering statutory social work interventions for adults of all ages living with a mental health condition. The team supports people with a wide variety of needs whether this be during a brief period in someone’s life or on a longer‑term basis. They work across the entirety of the Calderdale footprint, including a hospital, rehabilitation setting, supported living or care placement, or the clients’ own homes. The team is committed to working collaboratively with partner agencies and community resources to ensure people receive the right support from the right place at the right time.
We are seeking a qualified social worker who is passionate about adult social care and providing a high‑quality service and is keen to develop their professional experience and knowledge.
Applications welcomed from all qualified social workers ranging from NQSW through to Level 3.
Prior experience in mental health is not essential.
Responsibilities
Work expected to be undertaken by the Social Work role but not limited to:
* Care act assessments
* Support plans
* S117 after‑care plans and reviews
* Safeguarding work
* Mental capacity assessments
* Court work
The Social Work role will be a key part in ensuring our continued success in fulfilling the Council’s statutory responsibilities under the Care Act 2014.
