Job Description
For a client company, an international player delivering solutions for the solar inverter, battery storage, and the repowering markets, we are we are seeking a Technical Solutions Manager to strengthen our engineering capability and support customers across all technical aspects of pre-sales, deployment, and lifecycle optimisation in the UK market.
This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who combines customer-facing capability, solution design expertise, and hands-on understanding across PV, BESS, and power electronics.
You will work across the three key technical pillars of our UK business:
1. C&I BESS (Commercial & Industrial Energy Storage)
Support solution design, technical integration, and engineering readiness for a growing portfolio of medium-scale BESS deployments.
2. Utility-Scale PV / BESS
Provide technical support for system design, commissioning, performance diagnosis, and grid-compliance topics in large-scale solar and hybrid applications.
3. Repowering & Revamping
Deliver technical assessments, replacement strategies, and system upgrade pathways to extend fleet performance and optimise asset value.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Solution Design & Engineering Support
* Develop technically sound solutions across C&I BESS, utility-scale PV, and repowering applications.
* Produce system designs, configuration recommendations, and technical integration plans covering inverters, BESS, communication interfaces, and grid-compliance requirements.
* Support pre-sales activities by providing technical validation, solution sizing, and risk evaluation for proposals and tenders.
Project & Commissioning Support
* Assist EPCs, installers, and O&M partners during system deployment, commissioning, and first-time energisation.
* Provide hands-on or remote support for inverter/BESS configuration, parameterisation, and acceptance testing.
* Ensure best-practice engineering standards are applied across all project stages.
Advanced Troubleshooting & Lifecycle Performance
* Conduct diagnostics, assess plant behaviour, and support resolution of inverter/BESS performance issues.
* Use monitoring tools and root-cause investigation methodologies to identify underlying system problems and propose corrective actions.
* Feed insights into continuous improvements for FIMER products, documentation, and service processes.
Repowering & Upgrade Pathways
* Analyse ageing inverter fleets and propose replacement strategies, upgrade options, and performance-enhancing engineering measures.
* Conduct site reviews, compatibility assessments, and commercial/technical recommendations for repowering projects.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
* Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers, EPCs, developers, and asset managers.
* Translate complex engineering concepts into clear guidance for non-technical stakeholders.
* Participate in customer workshops, technical presentations, and site visits.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Work closely with UK Sales, Service, and the Global Engineering/R&D teams to ensure alignment on product capabilities, deployment roadmap, and continuous improvement.
* Contribute technical inputs for service offerings, proposals, bid documents, and commercial strategies.
Qualifications
Essential
* Degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Power Electronics, or a related field.
* 5+ years of technical engineering experience in PV inverters, BESS, or power electronics.
* Working knowledge of utility-scale PV design, grid integration principles, communication protocols, and BESS system architecture.
* Proven experience supporting technical solutions, commissioning, troubleshooting, or system integration.
* Ability to analyse data, diagnose technical issues, and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
* Strong customer-facing communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Comfortable working autonomously across multiple projects and stakeholders.
* UK-wide travel as required.
Desirable
* Experience with repowering/revamping programmes or inverter fleet upgrades.
* Prior work with global power-electronics manufacturers or large EPC/O&M organisations.
* Familiarity with grid-compliance frameworks (G99, frequency response behaviour, reactive power requirements, etc.).
* Experience supporting bid/tender responses with technical input.
