Principal Engineer – AXA Health, Royal Tunbridge Wells, England, United Kingdom. This role is part of a product‑led operating model focused on building out a Single Digital Platform centered around Salesforce, with a significant .NET estate and use of Azure services. The mission is to re‑platform the business for efficiency, flexibility, and improved health outcomes for our millions of members in the UK.
What you’ll be doing
* Leading the product engineering team, owning delivery outcomes as per the transformation roadmap.
* Working with the Engineering Leadership team to set and deliver on the engineering strategy.
* Hands‑on code work, including reviewing pull requests and ensuring best practices by full‑time and third‑party engineers.
* Inspiring excellence, improving employee engagement, performance, and well‑being.
* Representing engineering with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and business SMEs to meet business commitments.
* Assessing new technology solutions.
* Ensuring non‑functional requirements—performance, scalability, resilience, and GRC—are met.
* Encouraging collaboration and product ownership across developers and testers.
* Driving secure, quality code through continuous deployment.
* Providing direction and support in a multi‑vendor environment.
* Improving core DORA metrics and optimizing flow through systems and processes.
What you’ll bring
* Proven experience building and leading high‑performing engineering teams.
* Expertise in Salesforce and its ecosystem, building and scaling large‑enterprise solutions.
* Experience with Azure and .NET services, ADO pipelines, and React web applications is a big plus.
* Ability to design and deliver complex solutions on time and budget, accountable for outcomes.
* Experience managing high‑volume application estates delivering critical business value; financial services sector experience is a plus.
* Strong stakeholder management across business domains.
* Understanding of current and emerging technologies and their business benefits.
* Ability to translate business strategy into technical solutions and requirements into design.
* Experience in Agile environments with deep understanding of flow across the SDLC.
* Prior experience in a product‑centric organisation preferred.
