Job summary
We are looking for an experienced Dispenser to join our busy dispensary team that delivers a high level of customer service and patient care to our dispensing patients.
You will assist in the smooth running of services such as dispensing andprescription management.
Duty patterns are variablebut the practice core hours are from Monday to Friday.
The ideal candidate should hold a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in Dispensing at level 2 or equivalent. Experience with monitored dose systems and would be an advantage.
Experienceof reception duties and a professional and caring personality. Training will beprovided however the successful applicant will need to be competent in usinga computer and enjoy working as part as a busy team.
Main duties of the job
You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to prioritise workload and to be able work independently whilst integrating with the existing dispensary team.
A flexible, professional and enthusiastic approach is essential along with a desire to deliver an excellent service to our patients.
System1 Knowledge preferred however training will be provided.

The Surgery islocated in the town of Leiston, on the Suffolk Coast. We have a branch surgeryin the nearby village of Yoxford. The practice looks after approximately 9500patients with high patient satisfaction ratings and an ever- increasingpractice list size.

Job responsibilities
The post-holder will project a positive andfriendly image to dispensary patients and other visitors and deal with queriesin a professional, courteous and efficient way.
Assist in the preparation, dispensing and saleof prescriptions and assist with stock control, ordering and re-stocking of thedispensary.
Re-authorisation of medication once trained.
Duties andResponsibilities:
Issuingstock items and prepared prescriptions
Collectionof prescription charges/checking patient exemption statements
Operation of efficient stock control appropriate to the needs ofthe dispensary with the objective of ensuring continuity of supply for patientsand minimising wastage
Ensuring that drugs are received and stored in an appropriatemanner in accordance with the manufacturers instructions
Ensuring that refrigerated items are stored at the appropriatetemperature and maintaining the temperature control record/logbook
Cleaning work surfaces and shelving on a regular basis andensuring that that all dispensary equipment is kept clean and kept in goodworking order.
Date checking stock
Maintaining full and accurate records of all dispensingtransactions.
Undertaking other reasonable duties within the framework of thepost as directed by the managing dispenser.
Orderingand unpacking drugs and dressings.
Dispensingand checking repeat prescriptions and prescriptions.
Takingorders for repeats
Usingthe computer to keep records up to date.
Checkingwith GPs or in patient records if concerned about the appropriateness ofrequests for medication.
Dealingwith queries from patients regarding their prescriptions.
Orderingdrugs using the modem link to the wholesalers.
Somereception work as required as part of the dispensing process.
Handlingcontrolled drugs (and keeping register).
Handlingprescription money and operating/balancing the till.
Assistingwhen required to meet targets in relation to dispensing doctors scheme
Assistingin stock checks
Providingcover for annual leave/sickness.
