Sandwell College is seeking two passionate and knowledgeable Lecturers in Essential Digital Skills to join our ESOL 19+ department. We have one full time role and one part time role at 0.5. This is an exciting opportunity to empower adult learners with the digital knowledge and confidence they need to thrive in education, employment, and everyday life.
You will deliver high-quality teaching across essential digital skills and IT, using innovative and engaging methods to support a diverse group of learners β including those developing their English language skills. Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
1. Deliver engaging Essential Digital Skills programmes and IT sessions as required
2. Participate in curriculum development and planning to shape high-quality learning experiences
3. Maintain accurate academic and administrative records
4. Provide course leadership, personal tutoring, and pastoral support
5. Teach up to two evenings, as well as in community settings
6. Work collaboratively within course teams to ensure consistently strong delivery and learner experience
7. Use ILT and multimedia to develop effective digital learning materials
8. Design and develop learning resources suitable for a range of digital skill levels
9. Support the creation of effective learner support systems within mainstream programmes
10. Contribute to the expansion and development of digital learning provision
11. Teach core digital topics including software applications, online communication, internet use, and online safety
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential:
12. English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent) at Grade C/4 or above
13. Level 5 Teaching Qualification / Certificate in Education (or willingness to work towards)
14. An ESOL specialism combined with IT experience (Desirable)
15. Ability to work effectively as part of a team
16. Strong organisational, administrative, and presentation skills
17. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
18. Ability to inspire, motivate, and support adult learners
19. Ability to diversify teaching methods and adapt to varied learner needs
20. Proven experience teaching digital skills or IT to adult ESOL learners
21. Strong understanding of digital technologies, software applications, and online platforms
22. Experience using ILT to deliver engaging sessions
