Intermediate Lighting Designer (full time)
In Cornwall or remote option considered for UK residents)
We are Ecological Lighting Solutions - a fast-growing, forward-thinking lighting design practice, based in Cornwall. Our objective is to create beautiful, wildlife-friendly lighting designs. We are on the hunt for an experienced Intermediate Lighting Designer who combines technical expertise with an excellent eye for detail, to be a valued, contributing team member for our residential, commercial, industrial, sports, and leisure sectorswith a focus on Dark Skies and ecological requirements.
You will collaborate with the design team, as well as architects and ecologists, to develop detailed lighting designs using DialuxEvo and AutoCAD. If you are an enthusiastic designer who can balance multiple projects, working both independently and as part of a remote team, we want to hear from you!
The Role
You will be responsible for developing lighting design projects from concept to completion, including the following responsibilities:
·Crafting aesthetic, functional, and environmentally sensitive lighting design calculations using DialuxEvo.
·Producing detailed layout drawings, with circuitry, via AutoCAD.
·Completing luminaire and driver schedules.
·Where appropriate, recommending control systems.
·Collaborating with clients, ecologists, and architects.
·Taking on occasional site visits.
·Juggling multiple projects at once and meeting tight deadlines.
This post requires a strong understanding of lighting principles, British Standards, and current lighting technology. This role has the opportunity for flexible working, enabling you to balance these responsibilities with your personal commitments.
Qualifications & experience
·Minimum of 4 years’ experience working in lighting design (more experience is preferable).
·Minimum of a degree qualification in lighting design or a complimentary subject.
·IT savvy: You are proficient in Dialux Evo and AutoCAD, and comfortable with using Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
·Specialist knowledge: You have a solid grasp of lighting principles, British Standards and Guidance Notes.
·Communication pro: Your excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills make collaborating with team members and clients smooth and productive.
·Collaborator: You can work remotely with guidance and support from the Senior Lighting Designer.
·Creative problem solver: You tackle challenges with logic and have a keen eye for detail.
·Adaptable: You are quick to adapt, always focusing on delivering high-quality results at pace.
·Additional IT: You have experience with the design software SketchUp.
·Technology: An understanding of lighting control systems and options.
