The Company:
Our client is one of the largest privately owned main contractors in South Wales and have a strong and robust client portfolio across Social housing, residential and commercial. The company specialise within in New Build construction within the Commercial and residential sectors on projects typically between £5m - £15m in value.
Assistant Estimator - The Role:
A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Assistant Estimator to join the pre-construction team based from the Swansea office. You could be currently on a construction relatefd HND/HNC or BSc course - or recently qualified. The role will benefit from excellent mentorship and progression/development with one of the leading main contractors in Wales.
Assistant Estimator
* Accurate measurement using both CAD measure and manual measures.
* Production of accurate, comprehensive supply chain enquiries and tracking of same.
* Develop relationships with supply chain.
* Develop relationships with the Design Team and Clients.
* Develop the quality and range of the supply chain.
* Assist in the identification of areas of risk and opportunity.
* Highlight conflict and deficiencies within contract documentation.
* Production of accurate costs including review and comparison of supply chain quotations.
* Rate Build up – Allocation of appropriate trades, materials and labour.
* Develop understanding of rate cost data. Resource output/build up.
* Assist or produce the Estimating handover information in a suitable format for the Construction team.
* Support of Senior department staff
* Support and promote collaborative working both internally and externally
* Develop use of IT systems
* Develop and maintain a level of technical expertise
* Maintain current cost data
* Obtain feedback from the construction departments on tenders
* Follow the company brand and ethos.
Assistant Estimator - The person
* HND/HNC/Bsc course in a construction related subject
* Experience pricing new build construction projects as part of a pre-construction team beneficial but not essential
* Commutable to Swansea
* Desire to explore a career in Estimating
