Community mental health services are undergoing a national restructuring, emphasizing interventions with Occupational Therapy as a key component. We have an established team of OTs and aim to maintain and develop our interventions within the new Mental Health Together and Together + services.
The role involves conducting OT assessments and interventions. These may be performed by the successful candidate or supported by OT apprentices, support workers, or junior team members under supervision.
We are expanding our group work offerings to support complex service users in developing skills for daily living and strategies for managing their mental health recovery.
In addition to OT activities, the candidate will participate in core team functions such as trusted assessments, urgent assessments, risk management, and clinical pathway management, collaborating with a large and diverse multidisciplinary team.
Training and support will be provided to assist the candidate in unfamiliar areas of work. The role aims to support the delivery of high-quality mental health services to individuals experiencing various mental health challenges.
The candidate will deliver high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy assessments and interventions, both group and individual, to service users, their carers, supporters, and family members, aligned with occupational therapy pathways.
Effective communication with service users, carers, multidisciplinary team members, and, when appropriate, outside agencies is essential.
The role includes contributing to the team’s overall functioning, supervising and mentoring junior staff, providing occupational therapy student placements, and participating in service development and audits.
