A career without limits

As the nation’s flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain.

It’s something we’ve been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world’s first international scheduled air service between London and Paris.

This originality has been in our blood since day one. It’s the spirit we share with the people that fly with us, our partners, and our colleagues.

So, whether you are a reassuring voice on the end of a phone, a smile at the door, under a wing keeping the turbines spinning or landing us gently in far-flung places, a job at British Airways is yours to make.

We know great things can happen when you’re inspired to think big and bring your ambition to work every day, which is why, at British Airways the sky is never the limit.

The Role: Fleet Planning Analyst

Join our Network and Alliances team at British Airways as a Fleet Planning Analyst, where you’ll help shape the future of our fleet. This role is at the heart of strategic decision-making, supporting the planning, optimisation, and delivery of fleet plans for around 300 aircraft with a replacement value exceeding $20 billion. You will play a pivotal role in maximising commercial value, ensuring operational efficiency, and delivering customer-focused aircraft solutions.

What You’ll Do:

1. Develop detailed fleet plans, identifying opportunities for improvement such as aircraft utilisation and simplification, working closely with teams including Procurement, Air Trading, Scheduling, Engineering, and Operations.
2. Lead and support cross-functional projects to design and implement cabin reconfigurations that enhance customer propositions while meeting operational needs.
3. Build and maintain deep expertise in aircraft cost performance, producing detailed financial analyses to support new aircraft acquisitions and fleet extensions.
4. Support the introduction of new aircraft types, coordinating stakeholders, manufacturers, and suppliers.
5. Partner with manufacturers on seating configurations and performance data to inform strategic studies.
6. Assist in aircraft retirement planning with close collaboration with Maintenance Planning.
7. Support ongoing and ad-hoc fleet planning projects, contributing to long-term network and business objectives.
8. Provide fleet strategy insights across BA subsidiaries and ensure accurate fleet metrics and regulatory reports are maintained.

What You’ll Bring to British Airways:

9. A collaborative, flexible approach with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
10. Strong analytical ability with advanced spreadsheet modelling capability.
11. A proactive, self-starting mindset with the ability to work independently and drive initiatives forward.
12. Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate ideas and recommendations.
13. Resilience, agility, and a commitment to delivering results within challenging timescales.

Your Experience:

14. Experience in planning, commercial, or operational roles within the aviation industry (or similar sectors).
15. Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent.
16. Knowledge of BA’s fleet and network, aircraft performance, economics, maintenance activities, and environmental issues is desirable.
17. Familiarity with Fleet Planning systems such as FAM, NSA, and IDT is advantageous.

Why British Airways?
This is your chance to be part of a team shaping the strategic direction of one of the world’s most recognisable airlines. You’ll be trusted to take ownership, given access to the right tools and training, and supported by colleagues open to new ideas and innovation.

What we offer:

We believe that all the people who work with us should feel valued for the part they play. It’s one of the reasons our rewards go far beyond a competitive salary.

From the day you join us, you’ll get access to brilliant staff travel benefits including unlimited basic and premium standby tickets on British Airways flights. You’ll also receive up to 30 discounted ‘Hotline’ airfares per year for yourself, friends, and family.

At British Airways you’ll have the chance to take on new challenges and move forward in a way that feels right for you. We encourage all those who work for us to consider opportunities right across our business to help you develop and progress.

We never stand still, and we don’t expect our people to either.
