Working within the Energetics and Materials Team, you will be responsible for researching, developing, qualifying, and manufacturing materials and products to meet demanding physical, chemical, thermal, mechanical, and ballistic requirements under extreme conditions of temperature, pressure, and vibration.
Given the specialized nature of the role, candidates are not expected to have knowledge and experience in all areas. The successful candidate will attend training courses and conferences, alongside on-the-job training to develop the necessary skills and competencies.
Technical Responsibilities - Energetics Chemist
* Developing and monitoring propellant to meet energy, mechanical, and ballistic requirements.
* Improving, standardizing, and driving efficiencies in manufacturing processes.
* Qualifying propellant and materials according to recognized defence and internal standards.
* Managing materials (stocks, quality, performance, legislation) to meet strict design requirements.
* Supporting, monitoring, and improving manufacturing processes.
* Qualifying materials for manufacturing in accordance with standards.
* Clearing ingredients and finished materials for manufacturing.
* Researching and testing materials using known and novel processing methods, including mixing technology.
Qualifications:
* Degree in Chemistry.
* Genuine interest and aptitude in chemistry/material science, with high self-motivation.
* Significant practical experience in a disciplined/technical manufacturing, process, or laboratory environment.
