We would require someone with a driving licence 18\nApprentice Store person\n\nMerkland Tank Ltd are looking to take on a self-motivated individual to support our Store Supervisor in the day to day running of our storeâs operations. The ideal candidate will have a driving license and a good knowledge of IT systems.\nCore hours for this position are 0700 â 1530 Monday to Thursday and 0700 â 1430 Friday. Some flexibility will be expected to cover holiday, illness and operational requirements, this will be considered as overtime to the core hours.\nWe are a living wage employer and as such pay will be in line with this, with overtime as described above at time & half.\nInitial Job Training\nSuccessful candidate will be enrolled on a 1-year SVQ in Warehousing & Storage apprenticeship scheme with our training partner. This will be blended learning between our site and our training partner. On completion of this you will be enrolled on a forklift driving course to enable use of our store forklift.\nDuring this first year you will be expected to learn how to carry out the following;\nâ¢\tThe care and maintenance of all equipment where they are deemed competent to carry out this maintenance. \nâ¢\tPreparing and booking out equipment for works with chargehands/ supervisorsâ assistance using our store IT system.\nâ¢\tChecking equipment back into stores. \nâ¢\tCollection & delivery of goods as required.\nâ¢\tMaintaining stock levels of PPE and consumables. \nâ¢\tHousekeeping - maintain cleanliness and good order within the store.\nâ¢\tManaging items in quarantine and reporting defects to management.\nâ¢\tMaintaining electronic records of all maintenance and inspection carried out.\nâ¢\tReceiving & Inspecting goods into store, checking for any defect and storing correctly.\nâ¢\tWashing of vehicles and maintaining cleanliness.\nâ¢\tHealth & Safety knowledge/training relevant to our industry.\nâ¢\tAny other related duties as the arise, within your capability.\n\nFurther Training \nTo support the store fully there will be further training required across the following areas;\nâ¢\tPAT of all in house portable electrical items.\nâ¢\tThe inspection of Webbed fall arrest equipment; harnesses, lanyards, fall arrest blocks and stretchers.\nâ¢\tCalibration and bump testing of gas monitors using our in-house equipment.\nâ¢\tLadder inspections\nThis will be determined by the candidateâs ability and knowledge at a time that suits the company.\n \n The Warehousing and Storage apprenticeship is offered at level 5. It provides warehouse operatives with a qualification to demonstrate they possess the skills and knowledge required to carry out their role to a professional standard. In addition, it confirms the employee has a range of flexible skills that are backed up by a nationally recognised vocational qualification.\n\nInitial year will be to level 5.\nUnits covered in Level 5 include: \nMaintaining health, safety and security in logistics operations\nDeveloping effective working relationships with colleagues in logistics operations Operating equipment to perform work requirements\nReceiving goods from deliveries\nMoving or handling goods in logistics operations\nProcessing orders for dispatch to customers\nCounterbalance Forklift Driver Training\n Nat 5 level in English & Maths\n Strong work ethic, determination, and the ability to learn, alongside qualities like attention to detail, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
