Job summary

The North York community mental health team are looking to appoint a Band 8a Highly Specialist Applied Psychologist to work as part of our multi-disciplinary team.

Applicants will be required to have post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS and be registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC. Significant experience and competencies in delivering and supervising evidence-based psychological intervention for SMHP is also essential.

Main duties of the job

A key part of the role is to provide direct clinical work, promote psychological thinking within the team by helping staff develop formulations for clients, offering supervision and joint work, supporting staff wellbeing, and providing training in psychological theory and its implementation.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience working psychologically with individuals experiencing severe mental health issues and possess competencies in evidence-based psychological therapies for SMHP. They will contribute to the clinical leadership of the service, providing specialist psychological assessments, formulations, and delivering evidence-based therapies and supervision. They will also contribute to service development and professional leadership within the psychological professions.

Job responsibilities
