Registered Home Manager – Nursing & Residential Care
Bury St Edmunds
Up to £75,000 + Quarterly Bonus
The Opportunity
Compass Associates are supporting the appointment of a Registered Home Manager for a well-established nursing and dementia care home in Bury St Edmunds.
The home has a long-standing reputation for delivering high-quality nursing and residential care, supported by a stable management structure and an experienced, committed team. It operates from a distinctive, well-invested setting and has consistently maintained positive regulatory outcomes.
The service provides a combination of nursing and residential care, including support for residents living with dementia, with a clear focus on person-centred care and clinical quality. Standards are well established, and the emphasis is on maintaining what works well rather than changing the direction of the home.
You’ll be taking over from a long-standing Manager who is progressing into another role within the wider group. A structured handover is in place, making this very much a continuation role rather than a turnaround.
The Role
As Registered Home Manager, you’ll have overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the home, supported by an established Deputy and a hands-on regional team.
Your focus will be on:
* Maintaining high standards of nursing and dementia care
* Supporting the development of more complex dementia pathways
* Leading and supporting a settled, committed team
* Ensuring ongoing compliance and positive inspection outcomes
* Managing the operational and commercial performance of the service
* This is a role for someone who enjoys being visible in the home and leading from the front, rather than sitting behind a desk.
About You
You’ll be an experienced Registered Manager with a background in elderly nursing and dementia care. You’ll be confident managing a well-performing service and comfortable balancing clinical standards with operational responsibility.
You’ll bring:
* NVQ Level 5 (or equivalent)
* Ideally a Nurse or Nursing background
* Previous Registered Manager experience within nursing and/or dementia care
* A strong compliance and inspection history
* Good knowledge of dementia care, ideally including more complex needs
* A calm, confident leadership style that works well with established teams
What’s On Offer
* Salary up to £75,000
* Quarterly bonus
* Established Clinical Deputy Manager and strong regional support
* A stable, well-run home with a positive culture
* Opportunity to help shape the next phase of the dementia service
* Long-term progression within a supportive care group
Interview Process
Initial informal conversation, followed by two structured interview stages with senior leadership.
Location
Based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, with good access from Thetford, Newmarket, Ely, Stowmarket, Mildenhall, Diss and surrounding villages. Due to the location of the home, a driving licence and access to a car are essential.
Summary
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Registered Home Manager to take responsibility for a well-run nursing and residential care home with a strong reputation and stable foundations. The role offers continuity, support, and the chance to lead a quality service within a respected care group.
