As the Society Financial Control Lead, your role will be to support the Senior Lead in the delivery of financial reporting processes, engaging with stakeholders across the wider finance function to produce segmental business performance reports for the Board. You will have the opportunity to:
1. Support half-year and full-year statutory reporting processes, including month-end close reporting through liaison with internal stakeholders.
2. Develop, document, implement, and maintain the financial control framework within the Society Financial Reporting and Control Team.
3. Drive continuous improvement in processes and systems, focusing on data integrity, reporting accuracy, and efficiency.
4. Champion Workday adoption across Finance and the wider business, demonstrating skills and behaviors for the team to aspire to.
5. Identify best practices and incorporate external insights to enhance functional effectiveness.
6. Apply sound judgment to identify issues, solve problems, and make timely decisions.
7. Maintain industry knowledge and external networks to ensure relevant accounting interpretations and applications.
8. Develop technical expertise and regulatory awareness to ensure compliance and support good customer outcomes.
9. Work closely with internal and external audit teams to support assurance activities and ensure robust financial governance.

* Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) with demonstrable post-qualification experience.
* In-depth knowledge of statutory reporting, technical accounting, and financial control, especially IFRS9, acting as an SME.
* Experience in a similar role. Financial Services experience is beneficial but not essential.
* Proficient in finance systems; Workday experience is advantageous.
* Skilled in engaging and influencing senior stakeholders.
* Strong commercial acumen linking operational activity to financial outcomes.
* Proven ability to mentor, coach, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.
* Strong communication skills to explain complex accounting matters clearly.
* Adaptable, proactive, and supportive of change to deliver excellent outcomes.
