Overview
EQUANS are looking for a Maintenance Plumber to work on our Lancashire and Blackburn Schools contract across Blackburn and Burnley. This role is permanent and full-time, 40 hours per week. A competitive salary and benefits package is on offer.
Responsibilities
* Carry out building maintenance as required
* Provide technical solutions for PPM work and fault rectification
* Undertake fault finding and diagnosis, problem solve and communicate technical knowledge to others
* Be fully conversant with and provide detailed knowledge of plant status, building conditions, and services availability
* Energy management across the project
* Undertake CP/RP duties in specialist fields
* React to technical issues and support the team when required
* Maintain planned and reactive schedules
* View BMS PC information and adjust settings where necessary
* Build and maintain effective relationships with existing customers/clients
* Provide out-of-hours cover in accordance with the roster
* Responsible for ordering of specialist materials in line with company/office policy
* Any other duties reasonably requested by the management team
Impact
The role is part of a maintenance team delivering a service to 11 schools across Burnley and Blackburn. The position is central to the delivery of Technical FM services in line with the FM Contract.
Complexity
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on domestic and commercial water systems in accordance with the PPM programme. Respond in a timely manner to breakdown requests. Carry out installation work involved in minor upgrading and adaptation works. Safely operate all types of hand and power tools in accordance with health and safety and manufacturers’ guidelines. Ensure the correct use of personal protective equipment and adherence to health and safety and infection control procedures. Maintain records as appropriate. Undertake a willingness to assist and work flexibly with other trades. Ensure minimal disruption to the schools while carrying out work. Respond safely to weather-related events (e.g., snow, gritting, flooding, high winds). Undertake training to maintain and develop the service requirements. Collaborate with partners and colleagues to deliver a customer-focused service. Participate in standby on-call rota. Liaise and undertake duties at other EQUANS projects as directed.
Qualifications or Required Experience
* Plumbing recognised accreditation/certification; Gas Safe (advantageous)
* Previously worked in a facilities management maintenance environment (ideally education)
* Experience on both commercial and domestic water systems
* Understanding of rainwater harvesting systems
* Undertaken L8 ACOP training and understands Legionella risks in water systems
* Participation in an on-call rota
* Enhanced DBS clearance essential
* Proven track record of practical maintenance skills and fault finding
* Good understanding of building services such as boilers/pressure systems
* Sound knowledge of health and safety and zero harm
* Ability to follow site and company policies and procedures
* Flexible to out-of-hours overtime
* Experience working in school/PFI environments
* Full UK driving licence
* Vehicle provided
