We are looking for a highly motivated scientist with experience in microfluidics, fluorescence and label-free microscopy, applied to complex in vitro system (organoid, immune cells, fibroblasts and tissues) and extensive oncology cellular biology to join the Oncology Translational Research team within GSK Oncology TA. The Oncology Translational Research team will partner with other Oncology TA team members to increase clinical translatability and to contribute to preclinical development programs within GSK Oncology TA. The successful candidate will work as leader of a small team involved in the development of a new platform for organoids on a chip combined with a microfluidic system, will develop and implement cutting-edge advanced detection technologies, plus produce data that will inform machine learning models to improve cancer patient risk stratification as well as to predict future targeted and/or immuno-therapy susceptibilities. Discover more about our company wide benefits and life at GSK on our webpage Life at GSK | GSK In this role you will Set up organoid-on-a-chip platforms, combining different cell types (immune cells/ fibroblasts/tumour cells/endothelial cells) Develop a microfluidic system for modelling immune cell action and drug penetration into 3D organoids models Manage a small team involved in the development of protocols for advanced detection using single-cell and bulk analyses Collect and report data to the head of Digital biological twin laboratory Execute and deliver the project Why you? Basic Qualifications & Skills: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: PhD in Cell Biology/Oncology/Biotechnology with extensive post-doctoral experience Knowledge of, and experience in, a range of cell/tissue culture formats and assays for downstream imaging-based analysis of both live and fixed samples: from single cells to tissue specimens. Experience in multiplex imaging (wide-field imaging, confocal microscopy and/or light sheet imaging) of complex 3D systems such as tissues, patient-derived organoids and multiple cell combinations Track record of imaging cellular biochemistry using advanced techniques (e.g. fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy and single molecule imaging) Ability to communicate with team members from different backgrounds by training/discipline, as well as senior members of the GSK stakeholders/research partner units Ability to deliver high quality, consistent results in a timely fashion with a positive can-do and result oriented attitude Great biology background including impactful cancer biology publications Preferred Qualifications & Skills: Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply: Knowledge and experience in a variety of techniques for manipulating gene expression, such as CRISPR mediated gene editing.
