This is an excellent opportunity to kick-start your career in civil engineering and gain hands-on experience in one of the most respected companies in the industry.As a Junior Quantity Surveyor, you will work alongside experienced Senior Quantity surveyors and contract managers to assist with cost estimation, budgeting, and contract administration for multiple projects, primarily in the railway sector. You’ll play an integral part in supporting the day-to-day management of contracts, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget, while maintaining the highest standards of quality. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills, grow your expertise, and take on increasing responsibilities in an agile environment.Key AccountabilitiesCreate cost estimates, budget preparation, and financial reporting for ongoing projectsSupport contract negotiations, document preparation, and post-contract administrationMonitor project costs reporting relevant information to key stakeholdersTrack variations, tabulating evidenceGenerate payment applications to contract timelinesSupport value engineering processesAssist team to identify and mitigate project risks related to costs and contractsAssist with the preparation of tender submissionsCollaborate with project teams to ensure compliance with contract terms, regulations, and company policies.Provide administrative support and ensure the effective communication of contractual obligations to site teams/site managersExperience & QualificationsA Bachelors Degree or Higher National Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline2-3 years’ experience in quantity surveying (Railway desirable but not essential)Strong attention to detail, with an analytical approach to problem-solvingA good understanding of contract terms, costs, and budgeting principlesProficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (knowledge of MS Project isa plus)Experience using QS software tools to streamline processesGood communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with teams and clientsA proactive, self-motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentKnowledge of NEC contracts desirableEagerness to learn, grow, and build a career within SGEAbility to adapt to other sectorsFull Driving LicenceCompetent in the English languageHoursMonday to Friday (40 hours per week)Benefits Competitive SalaryAnnual leave entitlement of 30 days including public holidaysOngoing training and personal development opportunities
